Spy Point Spypoint FLEX-S

It’s been many years since purchasing some old generation Bushnell trail cams and the time finally came in January for me to bite the bullet & upgrade to something new.

Having searched the internet & after watching way too many youtube videos, I decided on the Spy Point flex s with its solar capabilities in the hope of leaving it in the field for prolonged periods.

I found the set up simple, the app easy to use, the initial 12hr charge worth while & after almost 2 months in the field it’s performed faultlessly.

I installed the 8 additional Lithium back up batteries as a precaution & the unit has never got close to using this power reserve! In fact the lowest the inbuilt power bank has reached was 72% last week during a long period of non stop rain across the south of England for about 1.5 weeks of dismal weather.

After 2 days of the units small solar panel having sun from a southerly direction the unit is tonight at 100% again which is the main strength of this unit.

I’ve moved the unit 3 times now, and in this period it’s operated in woodland, a heavily wooded ride late afternoon sun only and a spot overlooking a field enabling good rates of charge.. In all locations it’s performed beyond my expectations.

In truth it would be great if the solar panel could swivel giving some improved adjustment to a southerly or northerly direction, but I suppose Spy point have this covered with the additional solar kit they sell.

In regards the cameras features, I love the Dual sim connectivity allowing for great connectivity to the camera and the high level of customisation to minimise on power draw & maximise on photo/video quality.

I chose to join the spypoint club very early on and have purchased the middle of the road “Standard” photo bundle which works out at just over £6 pm with club discount and after a stronger pound to the dollar.

Whilst I was initially a little annoyed by the additional cost, it makes sense to have a higher plan whilst you fine tune your settings remotely and remember you can adjust your plan each month and revert to a foc option c240 pics vs the standard plans 1000.

Lastly the quality of photos has been good & I like the way you can request HD photos and videos upon request for those images you want to keep.

A long review but as you can tell by now, I think it’s great and am seriously considering another flex s for greater coverage.

Very easy to set up and operate using the smart phone App .
Once set up transmits videos and photos direct to your phone remotely, you then have the option of HD quality downloads for a reasonable purchase price from the Spypoint Web Platform .
Highly recommended i have within only a few days videos and photos of . Roe Deer ,Foxes , Muntjac and a large Hare. Thank you very pleased.
