How to Search the BushWear Website Like A Pro

In 2014, the BushWear website was completely redeveloped from the ground up to provide our customers' with a more efficient and user friendly way of shopping online.  The new website was revealed in early October 2014 and has proved to be a huge success with lots of positive feedback making its way to us.  Even with the new website and features, it is constantly being fine tuned to make things even simpler.  Today, I would like to discuss the Search feature of the website and how to use it effectively.  Since we stock thousands upon thousands of items, when you carry out a search you may receive back results which may not be directly associated with the search term that you used.  So here is a quick run through of how to use this feature to its full potential and other ways to search.

Shopping by Brand

Using a PC or Mac, one of the ways in which you can search our site is by using the Shop By Brand option, which is located at the top of the page along the BushWear banner.  This will give you a complete list of all of the manufacturers we deal with and they are listed in alphabetical order on the left hand side.  This is an ideal search option if you're having a general browse of your favourite brands to see what is available.  If you are viewing the brands on a mobile or tablet you'll see a very long list of the brands available.  You can speed up the search for the brand you are interested in by doing the following;

  • iPad/iPhone - click on the URL (where you enter website addresses) and enter the brand name.  An option will appear that says "find on page", click this and you will be taken directly to the brand.
  • Samsung (Tried on Galaxy S5) - At the top right of the standard browser you will see 3 dots - click on this and choose the option "find on page" and enter the brand.

Using the Search Bar

To use the search bar click on the word Search which is located on the top of the page in the BushWear banner, this enables the search bar and allows you to search through all products we have listed online.  When using this feature try to make your search as specific as possible.  Let's say your looking for the Pro Hunter Suit - if you search for "the pro hunter suit", the results will bring back everything with pro, hunter and suit in the title or description of the item.  Keep things simple and search for "Pro Hunter", this will bring back more specific queries to the search term used.  You can then further refine your search by clicking one of the links on the left hand side under the heading "Shop By".  Click on Harkila, this will then display all Harkila products which have the words "Pro+Hunter" in the title or descriptive text.

Searching Generic Terms

 If you are looking for something where the branding doesn't really matter you can use generic terms to carry out a search.  After a pair of trousers?  Then carry out a search with only the word "trousers" in the search field.  This will then take you to all items where the word "trouser(s)" are found within the title or descriptive text.  You can then further refine your search by selecting a brand on the left handside if required.

Numerical Search

If you have our catalogue and you would like to check some items on the website, or even place the order through the site once checking the catalogue, there is a very simple way to do so.  You can carry out a search using the product codes of the items you are interested in.  Every listed product in the catalogue (and website) will have a code.  Enter each individual code into the search bar with a space between each code.  As an example, if I search using the following codes; "202207 171388 348302", all three products will be listed on the same page. In this example this search takes me to the following items; The Plucker Kit, Harkila Mountain Trek Trousers and Meindl Dovre Extreme GTX-wide Boots.  With the displayed items I can them click on add to basket and then immediately head to the checkout page.  If with the results that come back you want to add all items to the basket, once you add one item you will need to press the browser back key to then add the other items, one by one.  This is a very efficient way of placing your order online and will only take a mater of minutes.
