Meindl Boot Care

Meindl Boot Care

Fantastic, your new pair of Meindl boots have just arrived today.  You remove them from their box and your sense of smell immediately takes in a dose of that new boot aroma.  You look your boots over and admire them for a second before trying them on - they fit perfectly and you cannot wait to get outside and put them through their paces…..  For best results every new pair of boots should be treated before use but this is not a requirement.  However, it is a good idea to start off your boot care the second they arrive and continue regular care from this day onward.  The following will assist you with how best to treat and look after your new boots.

The one thing we need to remember first of all is that boot care products do not last forever.  Before your boots are placed into their box at Meindl they are treated but this effect wears off.  There are a number of ways to care for each of Meindl’s boots.  Boot treatment has three main goals;
  1. Maintaining the waterproofness of the boot as this is reduced over time.

  2. Maintaining the breathability of the boot.

  3. Regular “nutrition” is required for the leather of the boot to ensure longevity.

We would recommend spending that little bit extra on treatment products when buying your new pair of boots.  In the long run spending an extra couple of pounds isn’t adding too much onto the order total but you can be sure it will add years onto your new pair of boots.

CLEANING
  1. Remove footbeds to dry. If waxing your boots, remove the laces as well.
  2. Remove loose dirt and stones from both boot and sole under running water using a brush.
  3. Never dry footwear near a source of direct heat, e.g. sunlight, radiators or stoves. Wet leather is very sensitive to heat and can become brittle, hard and cracked.

The steps above are to be carried out for each type of boot.
