With over 100 years of history in the rugged New Zealand outdoors, the iconic Swanndri brand consistently produces rugged, functional hunting clothing that keep you warm and comfortable no matter the weather.

Founded in 1913 by William Broome who produced a wool ‘bush shirt.’ Although Broome was a tailor, he noticed that farmers and forestry workers of the time were not equipped for the tough conditions of Taranaki winters, and that’s what inspired him to create the first Swanndri bush shirt or “Swanni”. The first bush shirt, had a collar and short sleeves and was treated with a secret formula which made the water roll of the back of the garment like water did off a Swan, and hence the name, Swanndri.

Now the same design philosophy has been applied with other modern material like fleece to round out an outstanding collection of shooting and stalking clothing for any job outdoors.

This is not the first shirt I have purchased and have always been very pleased with the product but I have had to return this item as it appeared the left was stretched and out of shape. I am waiting a replacement to arrive.

Good quality overshirt

Had my eyes on one of these for a while now simply becuase the material is wool. Wool has countless advantages over the more modern synthetics fabrics. It’s warming and insulative even when wet. To a degree it’s self cleaning, antimicrobial this deterring odour buildup. It’s natural and far far less polluting or harmful if any at all to the environment. It’s long lasting rugged anti reflective and it makes next to no noise whilst rubbing against itself making it good for casualesqe hunting apparel. The overshirt itself is well made of good useful utilitarian design and a nice natural colour. Zip functions well and the buttons are fixed securely. As for sizing I’m 46inch chest and around 6ft and the large fits me well enough with room for one reasonably sized under layer shirt or jumper. Yet to test it in the rain however I have no worries it’s called swandri for a reason the water beads off like it does on the namesake birds plumage. Oh and delivery was quick and communication from the business bushwear was timely and thorough. Bravo. 👍 a happy chap
