Pristine primer pockets

‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’ and, if you live by this maxim, there is nothing more pleasing that a quick twirl of the pocket brush before you polish and reload.

Poor fit for primer pockets

I use a lot of RCBS reloading equipment so when my pocket cleaning tool arrived I was keen to try it out. I was reloading 44magnum and 45ACP. I was astounded to find that the ‘large’ primer pocket brush is actually quite a bit smaller than the pockets on both sets of brass. To this end it took a bit more work to ensure each pocket was clean to suit my standards. Everything is relative and the extra work is negligible but I’d expected the brush to be a good fit with minimum effort on my part. The tool is quite expensive so I expect more. In hindsight I should have bought a much cheaper brand and fitted it to a cordless drill. One final point, the screw head at the base of the handle for storage of the unused brush, is a pain to get opened, removed and replaced. Plus the unused brush rattles about inside the handle.
